We have a lot of events throughout the year. Using Ibusuki's natural beauty as the focal point, our events are exciting to both participate in and watch.
[ January ] Ibusuki Nanohana Marathon The first Sunday of January
This is the first marathon of the year, and is open to everyone for a small fee. Please come and join in the marathon, which takes place in the blooming season of the Nanohana flower.
Ibusuki Nanohana March The last weekend of January
A calm walk through the sea of Nanohana flowers.
[ March ] Mt.Kaimon Climb In the Middle of March
A casual get together on the top of Mt. Kaimon in which everyone enjoys the beautiful panoramic view.
[ April ] Kyushu Classic Car Festival Late April
Many different styles of antique cars produced before 1985 gather at Mt. Kaimon Fureai Park . With a variety of types, ranging from four-wheel ex-army vehicles, to three wheeled cars, this event has something for everyone.
Aloha Sengen Ceremony Late May
In late May, the Mayor declares it is time to wear aloha shirts to set the Hawaiian mood.
[ May ] Ibusuki Hula Festival Late May
Many hula dancers from all over Japan get together in Ibusuki to enjoy the Hawaiian hula dance.
[ June ] Yamagawa Minato Matsuri The first Sunday of June
The festival to pray for the safe voyages and prosperity of Yamagawa harbor patrons held at the Yamagawa harbor fisherman's wharf.
[ August ] Kaimon Somen Natumatsuri
Middle of August
This is the summer festival in which the citizens enjoy karaoke and a great Fireworks display, all against the silhouette of Mt.Kaimon.
[ October ] Ibusuki Onsen matsuri Early October
This is the Summer Festival held to thank God for the gift of the hot springs . Many citizens join in the parade and dance to the traditional Japanese music. Fireworks and a children's music festival are held on the warm, beautiful summer night.
Sunamushi week Late October
A week dedicated to thanking visitors and God for the gift of sunamushi, the sand baths.
[ December ] Ibusuki Sangyoumatsuri -- Thanksgiving festival Early December
The festival held to show the cities' gratitude for the progress of local industry and the rich harvest. Enjoy the free market highlighting Ibusuki's specialties, and the traditional Japanese dancing.

Every Morning from 8:00 to 11:00, many people come to buy fresh fishes, agricultural products, and local specialty food; yamagawa croquette, satsumaage, katsuo sandwich.
